UI Stops Postgraduate Exams Over Covid-19

The postgraduate examinations that suppose to commence on Wednesday in the University of Ibadan has been suspended as fear of spread of the dreaded Delta Variant of the Covid-19 virus hangs on the school environment.

The Chronicler Newspaper learnt that an academic staff of the Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies who was suspected of having had contact with the dead Professor of Virology, David Olaleye, whose name was not disclosed, has been taken to the Intensive Care unit (ICU) of the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.

Students have therefore been told to go home till another date for the examinations would be made known by the authorities while they were advised to adhere strictly with the protocols of the Covid-19.

Oyo State government on Tuesday, announced the death of Professor David Olaleye of the Virology Department of the University of Ibadan, whose death was attributed to Covid-19.

Olaleye was a member of the Covid-19 Task Force team, inaugurated by Oyo State government to see to the curtailment of the spread of the virus in March 2020.

A postgraduate student of the Institute of Peace and Strategic studies who spoke with The Chronicler Newspaper in confidence, said most of the students have left the campus for their homes till another date is announced for the examination.
