The people of Iseyin have appreciated the efforts of security agencies in Oyo State for the killing of two suspected kidnappers and arrest of others while some are on the run.

The State Police Command source informed The Chronicler Newspaper that most of the kidnappers were invited from Ilorin by some Fulani accomplice who gave them information, especially about wealthy Fulanis and Yoruba farmers.

A case of the kidnap of a Fulani man called Tambaya, who was a relative of the former Chairman of Miyetti Allah, Oyo State branch, Alhaji Bello Yakubu was mentioned, in which the latter insisted no ransom would be paid and the victim was killed.

Another incident was the abduction of a notable cattle owner known as Tukura who was kidnapped and the sum of eight million naira was collected after which Alhaji Yakubu Bello engaged the service of the State’s Anti-Kidnap Special Unit.

The unit worked with other security agencies like the police, men of the Directorate of Security Service (DSS), Amotekun and local vigilante men to unravel the case as the phone calls of the abductors were traced to Saare, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.

“Some of the suspects were arrested at this point while others who invited the Ilorin men were picked at Iseyin by the security men, where a relative of Tukura was pinpointed as the one who gave information about the wealthy man to his abductors,” our source who craved anonymity revealed.

A former manager of a hotel situated along Iseyin-Ipapo road was also arrested at Ilorin for providing information and accommodation to the abductors at the hotel whenever they had operation at Iseyin.

The manager was said to have established his own hotel at Ilorin from the proceeds of ransom collected overtime before being rounded up alongside others at his new base.

“And one particular one from Saare area of that local government area, but investigations led to the arrest of a former manager of Olaomo Hotel who was since sacked and had relocated to Ilorin where it was alleged that he was already running a hotel supposedly built with proceeds from the illicit funds.”

Our source also revealed that the two killed among the kidnappers made attempt to escape before they were overpowered by the police and their remains kept at a popular morgue in Iseyin while the arrested members of the kidnap syndicate have been transferred to Ibadan for further investigations.

Meanwhile the people of the community have shown their appreciation to the security apparatus for their painstaking efforts at unraveling the syndicate and restoring public confidence in the police authority.

The Chairman, Ebedi Frontliners, Iseyin, Mr. Olusegun Adeleke told our reporter that the news of the killing and arrest of some of the kidnappers has shown that the police will do more to get to the reveal those behind other kidnap cases in the community.
