Adeleke’ll Not Be Vindictive Against Osun Traditional Rulers – Osun PDP Chair

The Osun State acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr. Adekunle Akindele has said that the Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke will not be vindictive against the traditional rulers who openly declared their support for the incumbent governor, Agegboyega Oyetola, some days before the Saturday 16th July election.
Adeleke won the election with 403,371 votes, against Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes as the keenly-contested exercise was described by observers as free and fair.

While answering questions on Arise TV programme on Monday, Akindele said the election has confirmed what his party has always claimed that the people of Osun State were tired of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the incumbent administration in the State and whatever the monarchs could have done could not change the decision of their subjects.
“Senator Ademola Adeleke and the PDP are not vindictive, no traditional ruler should panic about the consequence of their open support for the incumbent, the governor is not somebody that is out to pay bad action with another bad action.

“He is focused on changing the state of things for the betterment of the people, so whatever the monarchs in question could have done, we were confident long before the election that APC and Oyetola would lose, the monarchs could not have changed the natural course of events as indicated in the loss of confidence in the present government.”

When asked about the accusation of vote buying especially by the two major parties (APC and PDP), the PDP State acting Chairman said his party had no reason to buy votes when it was already popular and the best alternative the people had against APC that had disappointed them.
