Agodi Mayhem: ‘Our Men Fired No Shot!’ Police

The police authority in Oyo State has reacted to series of online reports on Tuesday morning that its men shot at commercial motorcycle riders at Agodi in Ibadan.

A statement signed by the State Public Relation Officer of the Oyo State Command of Nigerian police, SP Gbenga Fadeyi noted that contrary to the rumor being peddled by the online reports that policemen shot at Okada riders at the point of bedlam, they were invited later to help calm the situation after a clash between officers of the Correctional Services at Agodi and motorcyclists.
“Contrary to the currently trending news online, that police men fired shots leading to injury at Agodi Gate area this morning, the truth is that there was a clash between officers of the correctional service and bike men.
“Upon receipt of this information, policemen as well as other security agencies moved to the scene to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order that could lead to coordinated attack on the prison facility.

“Policemen fired no shot, further development will unfold and be communicated later,” the PRO assured.
