Aseyin: Quick Succession Will Sustain Oke-Ogun Development – Ogunbode

A top contender for the Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa Federal Constituency under Accord Party, Chief Olusola Ogunbode has urged kingmakers in Iseyin to expedite action on the selection and installation of a new Aseyin of Iseyin, for the Oke-Ogun region not to suffer setback, as according to him, Iseyin is strategic to the development of the region.
Ogunbode, who spoke with The Chronicler Newspaper on Thursday said the absence of a monarch in a community would cause the people of the community setback as government and many organizations prefer to channel development through the traditional institution for legitimacy.

He called on the traditional council in Iseyin local government, the royal families and others concerned not to delay the selection process, adding that it would serve as a good pace for other communities that are waiting to have monarchs.

“Iseyin is strategic to Oke-Ogun’s development and one of the key pointers to this is the presence of a forward-looking, team player king that will carry everyone along, the late Aseyin has done so much in this regard and his death hit all of us so much.

”It is pertinent that as much as we want the right person to ascend the throne, efforts should be in place to expedite the succession process, so as not to allow for long period of vacuum.
“Iseyin is strategic to the development of the rest of Oke-Ogun and the presence of a monarch has so much to do in relation to the drive for infrastructural and human development, we urge those that have one thing or the other to do with the selection and installation of new Aseyin, not to allow anything no matter it is to delay the process.”

Ogunbode who is the Akinrogun of Okeholand, used the medium to sympathise with the people of Iseyin on the demise of Oba Dr. Abdulganiy Salawudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi Ajinese 1, who transited recently after a brief illness.
“We sympathise with the people of iseyin on the demise of
His Royal highness Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Adekunle Salawudeen who joined his ancestors shortly after a brief illness.
“His Highness was a good example to other traditional rulers and citizens during and after his death within Oyo State and beyond, he did an immense job during his life time and especially on the thrown.
“His diligence and brilliance brought about the desired unity and visible developments to Iseyin land He was a strong believer in unity and one who saw the interest of his people as paramount.
“I sympathize with the people of iseyin, the federal constituency and Oyo state at large on the loss of a great king and pray the next Aseyin will continue where the Late Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Adekunle Salawudeen dropped the baton,” Ogunbode prayed.
