Children Day: Oyo Govt. Corporate Body Take Tourism to Secondary Schools

The Oyo State government has partnered a private tourism company, Capricorn Concierge to introduce tourism and its potentials to secondary schools in the State.

The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun stated this on Thursday, while hosting the management of the organization, who were at his office on a courtesy visit.

Olatubosun said the establishment of Ibadan Domestic Tourist’s Club for secondary school students would further deepen the knowledge of the tourism sector in the students, so as to make them choose their career in the area and create wealth for themselves and the State government.

Olatubosun therefore pledged the support of the State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, towards promoting the activities of the club, as according to him, the idea behind it is in accord with the State’s policy on tourism development.

The Chairman, Capricorn Concierge, Mr. Ibitayo Araoye, who established the Ibadan Domestic Tourist’s Club, while commending the efforts of Oyo State government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde on tourism growth in the State, said the purpose of the visit was to intimate the Commissioner about the catch them young’ concept of integrating the interest of young students in secondary schools into tourism business potentials.

Araoye hinted that the present administration has created an enabling environment for tourism business to thrive in the State, by beaming positive searchlight on tourist’s sites and projecting same to the outside world.
