‘Direct All Federal Agencies To Commence Recruitment’ – Oyo NUJ Charges Buhari ….Congratulates Makinde Over Resolution on LAUTECH

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to direct all federal government agencies to immediately commence employment of young Nigerian graduates to ease the unemployment problem that it said was fueling insecurity in the country.

Speaking through a communiqué after a congress held at its Iyaganku Press Center in Ibadan on the 22nd of November, 2020, the Congress noted that the rate of unemployment was becoming worrisome.

It also charged the federal government to accede to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), with a view of allowing Nigerian Universities resume academic activities.

“The Congress noted that the problem of unemployment in Nigeria is becoming worrisome and then advised the Federal government to compel all its agencies to employ graduates roaming the streets in search of works.

“The Congress congratulated the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over the amicable resolution of the ownership crisis of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, resulting into the transfer of the University to Oyo State, it now appealed to Governor Makinde to ensure that the lost glory of the University is restored.

“The Congress expressed concern at the prolonged ASUU strike and called on the Federal Government to accede to ASUU demands with a view to allowing Nigerian Universities resume academic activities.”

The Union further used the congress to call on the Inspector General of police, Muhammed Adamu to prevail on his men to return to work as it observed that since the end of the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria, many police officers were yet to resume back to their official posts.
