The Oyo State government and the leadership of the Fulani herders in Iseyin local government area and its environs have been called upon to start planning on data capturing of immigrant Fulani herders passing through the community.

The call, which came from the head of the Iseyin traditional council, who is the Ikolaba of Iseyin, High Chief Ismahil Tikalosoro, was in response to the solutions to the lingering cases of kidnapping for ransom in the area at the Iseyin Security Summit, which held at Iseyin on Saturday.

Tikalosoro, who was represented at the event by the Baale Alokon’igbo, Chief Adesokan Olaniyi, said the only way to curb the excesses of immigrant herders , who he stated were not Nigerians, was to know their country of descent, so as to be able to monitor their activities while staying within the forests of the borders of the community.

He opined that most criminal activities attributed to herders were perpetrated by the foreigners among them and immediate data capturing could curb the menace.

”The migrating Fulanis are the causes of insecurity in our area, we know those that are at home, they also know us, it is those that move from one place to another easily that are the problem.

”If the leaders of the Fulani tribe in Iseyin can cooperate with the State government to have a census and data capturing process of these people, it will bring down the rate of kidnapping for ransom and other crimes.

Recall that the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi administration planned to go into the process of registering all Fulani herders in Oyo State but later dropped the idea during the farmers and herders crisis in the State.
