IDGS ‘93 Set Celebrates As Prof Aibinu Becomes Mogaji Aikuola-Aibinuomo

The 1993 set of Iseyin District Grammar School, Iseyin (IDGS) have celebrated the family of Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu as he was on Tuesday conferred with the Mogaji Aikuola-Aibinuomo by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Dr. Mahood Olalekan Balogun.

The wife of the new Mogaji, Alhaja Raheemot Aibinu is the Vice-President of the 1993 set of IDGS and an indigene of Iseyin.

Engr. Dapo Omotoso, the President of the ‘93 set, said members were proud of the development as Prof. Aibinu has impacted positively on the community to be so honored.

“On behalf of the Executive and Members of Iseyin District Grammar School 93 Set Alumni, i write to felicitate with the family of Erudite Scholar, the Vice Chancellor of Summit University Offa, Kwara State, Prof. A.M. Aibinu on his coronation as the first Mogaji of AIKULOLA AIBINU OLODO in Ibadan Land.

“His coronation was performed by His Royal Majesty, Oba Senator Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadan Land on 31st July 2023, in his Palace.

“The unanimous nomination of this illustrious son of Ibadan Land by the AIKULOLA AIBINU OLODO family is in recognition of his tireless effort towards development of his immediate OLODO community and unending pride he has brought to the family, Ibadan Land and Oyo State.

“We congratulate and pray that your reign as Mogaji AIKULOLA AIBINU OLODO be long. The Land of OLODO shall experience peace, tranquillity and prosperity under your purposeful leadership.”

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, HRM Oba Dr. Mahood Olalekan Balogun, conferred the title of Mogaji Aikulola-Aibinuomo family upon Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria, along with five others on July 31st, 2023. The grand investiture took place at the Olubadan Palace, Itutaliba, Ibadan, and was graced by esteemed members of the Olubadan-in-Council and dignitaries from across the nation.

In his address, HRM Oba Dr. Mahood Olalekan Balogun urged the newly appointed Mogajis to discharge their duties with utmost dedication to their extended families and the larger Ibadan community. They were also reminded to uphold the honor and integrity of their communities, avoiding actions that may bring embarrassment to Ibadan as a whole.

The title of Mogaji represents the headship of a large family and holds significant importance in Olubadan Chieftaincy Matters. It marks the first step in the hierarchy, with Mogajis serving as family heads, responsible for maintaining order and harmony within their clans. The appointment as Mogaji is an essential milestone in the journey towards potentially becoming an Olubadan, and it requires substantial effort and competence to advance through the ranks. Presently, there are over 2,500 Mogajis in Ibadan, each contributing to the welfare and cohesion of their respective families and the larger community.
