Ifa Corpus, Other Spiritual Means Will Determine Next Aseyin – Kingmaker

One of the heads of Iseyin kingmakers who is the Ikolaba of Iseyinland, High Chief Ismahil Omotoso Odubiyi has told The Chronicler Newspaper on Tuesday that the Ifa Corpus and other spiritual means would be deployed to pick the next Aseyin of Iseyin.

Odubiyi stated this during an interview at a special prayer conducted for the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola and other notable sons and daughters of of Iseyin community, which was organized by the former Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Saheed Alaran at his residence.

The Ikolaba said ten individuals from the next royal family have shown interests and were all qualified in all the criteria that could be needed in a king, which include mental, physical and psychological well-being, as well as sound education and affluence.

He went further to say that Iseyin, being an ancient community that started with succession of kings has a spiritual foundation upon the Ifa Corpus called Owonrin Aseyin, that determines the selection process among other spiritual inquiries.

”Iseyin is an ancient community, it has a beginning with leadership by successive Obas, Iseyin never had Baale as a leader and in the old, whenever there were many candidates vying for the throne like we have ten of them now, the kingmakers would seek spiritual guide and enquiries about the one candidate that has the most capability of taking the community to a greater height.

”The Oracle would be consulted and like every other Yoruba community has its own peculiar Ifa Corpus that established it, that of Iseyin is Owonrin Aseyin, so we shall hing our efforts on this, among other spiritual enquiries from other religions too.

”People should know that we will not pick based on who has more money than the other, we will pick according to who has the natural capacity, as shown by our fore-bearers through the spiritual realm, to lead us to greatness,” he assured.

He however enjoined the people to support the kingmakers with prayer for them to have the courage and fortitude to achieve the best during the process.
