Iseyin: Rally Against Kidnapping Suspended As Accident Kills Six OPC Members

Six members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) were confirmed dead as a result of a ghastly road accident along Iseyin-Awaye-Abeokuta road on Wednesday.

The bodies of the unnamed accident victims were deposited at FADOK Hospital, adjacent to the Iseyin Police Divisional Headquarters, along Barracks road before their relatives were called to move the corpses back to Lagos, from where they were reported to have come.

The Chronicler Newspaper gathered that the group planned to hold a massive rally against kidnapping cases that became rampant in 2022 and early this year, but shelved the plan because of they called the loss of their members to the road carnage.

Our police source, who sought anonymity said the accident might have been caused by over-speeding because of the number of deaths recorded and those alive but with injuries.

Recall that the Iseyin community, led by the traditional council, community leaders and other stakeholders resorted to spiritual solution to end the menace of kidnapping and sundry crimes, which has yielded positive outcome, as there has been no cases of kidnapping in the last three weeks.

Efforts of the joint security operatives from Ibadan and Iseyin community also led to the neutralization of a gang that has been terrorizing the Isalu area of the community, leading to the death of the gang leader and arrest of his members.
