By Fadilat Aminuallah

The kidnappers of a phone store owner in Iseyin have released him on early Wednesday morning after collecting an undisclosed amount of money.
Mr Abdul-Rahman Aweda, popularly called ‘Ramphoner’ was picked at his store late on Friday evening after which the kidnappers called his relatives, demanding the sum of seventy million naira (#70million), upon which the family pleaded that they could not pay such amount.

The Chronicler Newspaper’s effort at getting the particular amount of money collected was futile as family members said it was not to be disclosed.

Aweda was snatched at his shop late on Friday after the assailants fired many shots into the air and many people were of the opinion that shop owners, especially those selling phone accessories and money dispensing Point of Sale (P.O.S) should not be opened till late in the evening, as they would be opened to attack and kidnapping.

Ramphoner’s store was said to have been looted during the kidnap incident as new phones and cash from sales as much as more than a million naira were taken away by the kidnappers.
