The Chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last Saturday’s local government election in Iseyin, Hon. Mufutau Abilawon has said the election was beacon of hope for the people living in the rural areas.

He hinted that having a democratic government at the grassroot will make way for improved infrastructural development and promotion of people’s living condition, as the local government administration would have the power to embark on projects, engage skill workers within the communities and empower them financially.

Abilawon however noted that he was willing to replicate what he called the good works of Governor Seyi Makinde at the State level when he becomes the Chairman of Iseyin local government.

”This election is the first to happen this early in the last two administrations in this State, this shows the love our governor has for the growth of the rural communities, you can see the free and fair conduct of the election, we have to give kudos to the umpire and those saddled with the responsibility of conducting this election.

”I want to use this occasion to assure the people of Iseyin local government that when we assume office as the democratically elected Chairman of Iseyin local government, we will replicate the wonderful job being done by the governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde across the State, to further promote the welfare of our people in the areas of health, security, infrastructural development and creation of wealth through Agro-economy.”

The Full Time Commissioner, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kolajo Isiaq, who was also at Iseyin to vote during the local government election saluted the courage of the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for determining to give the needed development to the third tier of government in order to grow and contribute to the development of the State.

Kolajo added that the real development can only be felt by rural dwellers as the major population of residents is at the local government, asking the people to continue to have confidence in the incumbent administration to deliver more on good governance.

The Chronicler Newspaper observed peaceful conduct among the people that went to different polling units to cast their votes.
