Moniya-Iseyin Road Deserted As Irate Mob Torches Police Station, 3 Dies

Three young men have been reportedly killed during Tuesday’s #EndSARS protest at Ojoo, Moniya end of Ibadan while the Ojoo police station and a popular petrol station have been vandalized.

Thugs in their number barricaded the Ojoo end of the Lagos-Ibadan express road as at the time of filing this report and calls made to ascertain the cause of deaths and what the police authority wished to do in the interim to calm tension were not returned by the State Police Public Relation Officer.

The road leading to Iseyin from Moniya in Ibadan was deserted as news had frittered to the towns in Oke-Ogun area of the State about the crisis at Ojoo

A witness however told The Chronicler Newspaper that the protest turned bloody early Tuesday morning when members of the defunct road transport union took over what was billed to be a peaceful protest to demand for good governance and end to police brutality in the country.

“All I can say is that the guys that took over and turned everything to this bloody state are not normal protesters, they were hoodlums and members of the former transport union that have been stopped from functioning.

“They see this as a way of getting back at the government that disbanded them and while at it, they extort the innocent people riding private vehicles and motorcyclists, it is wrong.”

Some people that spoke with our reporter urged the State government to direct the men of Operation Burst to quickly go to these red spots and clear the areas of crisis.
