Oke-Ogun Group Slams Folarin Over Support For Buhari’s 3rd Term Bid

Oke Ogun Parapo wondered in a statement on Thursday, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan that it is inconceivable for an aspirant to the office of governor of Oyo State to declare war on the entire Oke-Ogun area of the state with such reckless statement.

Oke-Ogun Group Slams Folarin Over Support For Buhari’s 3rd Term Bid

A political pressure group in Oke-Ogun, named Oke-Ogun Parapo, has carpeted a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin for insinuating that Senator Fatai Buhari, will get a third term ticket to represent Oyo North Senatorial district in the 2023 election.

They were reacting to a statement by Senator Folarin that Buhari will get a third term in office because he is supporting his candidacy to become the governor of Oyo State.

Oke Ogun Parapo wondered in a statement on Thursday, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan that it is inconceivable for an aspirant to the office of governor of Oyo State to declare war on the entire Oke-Ogun area of the state with such reckless statement.

“Oke Ogun constitutes almost one third of the state and about 25 percent of the voting population. They have been agitating to produce the governor of the state since return to democracy in 1999. Instead of supporting such agitation for equity in Oyo State, many politicians have been working hard to frustrate their aspiration.

“Their aspiration for political equity has been worsened by the emerging domination of the Oyo North Senatorial zone by the Ogbomosho axis of the state. Oke Ogun has 10 of the 13 local government areas in the Senatorial zone. They have about 70 percent of the population of the area with almost 2million people. Ogbomosho has three local government with about 600,000 people, yet Ogbomosho has produced the Senator in the last eight years which is against the principle of alternating the office between the three Ogbomosho local governments and the 10 Oke-Ogun local governments.

“It is unfortunate that the beneficiary of such inequity, Senator Buhari is now aspiring for a third term to bring his domination of the area to 12 years.

“It is disheartening that Folarin for his selfish reason will support such iniquity of domination with his reckless statement. With that statement, he has declared war on Oke-Ogun in clear terms that he does not need their vote to become governor.

“We call on the people of Oke Ogun to rise up to this challenge. If the stalwarts of APC in Oke-Ogun say we don’t matter, it is incumbent on us to show them that we do.

“If Senator Folarin does not recant his support for Buhari and declaration of war on Oke Ogun,we will have no choice but to mobilize support against him. This is our notice to him.

“Enough is enough of this relegation of Oke Ogun in the politics of Oyo State,” the statement read.
