‘Oke-Ogun L’Okan Project Has Succeeded Despite Some Disappointments – Ajuwon

The President, Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum (OPDCF), Dr. Olusegun Ajuwon has described the efforts of the group on the sensitization of indigenes of the region to adopt an Oke-Ogun indigene as Governor and Senator in the race towards the party primaries early in 2022 as successful.
Ajuwon stated this at the last meeting of ODCF which held at Otu Community Hall, Otu, Itesiwaju local government on Saturday, saying despite the failure to have any of the major parties to pick indigenes of Oke-Ogun as governor.

The forum’s President hinged the success of the agitation to the high level of awareness that has been achieved and the possibility of the incumbent Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal to act as the Acting-Governor for three weeks during the recent annual leave of the State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
Recall that Bayo Lawa acted as Oyo State Governor for 23 days as the Governor sought the understanding of the State House of Assembly for him to travel for vacation from Thursday 11th August to Friday September 2nd 2022.

Dr. Ajuwon hinted that the three weeks that the Deputy Governor acted was described as a success by the Governor upon his resumption, which he called impressive to the group.
”In 2019, the crying point for ‘Oke-Ogun Lo Kan’ started, we toured the ten local government areas, calling on all indigenes in the gubernatorial race to step up efforts, eventually all the popular parties chose from Ibadan and even with our threat that we would not vote for them if they failed to use any of the candidates from our region.

”For any candidate to win the gubernatorial election, there must be a 25% spread of votes across the State and the ten local government areas of Oke-Ogun already covered that, unfortunately, we could not talk with one voice, the same went for the Senate.
”Despite these, I will remind you that we made little progress, the Deputy Governor is from Oke-Ogun and he recently served as the Acting-Governor when the Governor went on vacation, even the Governor saluted his capacity during this period, this means we can work on this and achieve more.”

While calling on the people of the region to use their vote to achieve development for Oke-Ogun, the leadership of ODCF were called to work with all political parties to sign an undertaken with the forum to transmit power to the region in the next election.

Dignitaries at the meeting include Oniro of Otu, Oba Sunday Oyetunde Adepoju, the Aare of Ago-Are, Oba Dr. Michael Abodunrin Oyetunji Kofoworola, the Asiwaju of Oke-Ogun, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, General Kunle Togun, Admiral Amos Adedeji, Prof. YK Yusuff, Chief Abu Gbadamosi, Hon.
