Olasupo revealed that it is no more an encouraging step for government to recruit graduates, as the federal allocation from which States pay salaries and allowances is depleted, adding that only those who acquired skills from polytechnic can be independent and survive the current situation in the country.

”It is no more fashionable for graduates to be looking forward to government jobs, many States are finding it difficult to meet up with statutory responsibilities like security, infrastructural development not to talk of paying salaries.

”Many of these States have downsized or sacked many workers, some reversed their decision to pay new minimum wage, you can see that it is not easy to be expectant of government employment at this critical period, only those who know will adopt skill to survive and that is what polytechnic education portends.”

He advises the matriculating students to shun all vices that could damage the image and names of their families, while they work hard to get good grades and be financially independent later in future.

In his address at the occasion, the Rector, SAF Polytechnic, Iseyin, Dr. Ganiyu Adesina said the institution was approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in February 2018 to run National Diploma (ND) programmes in Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Building Technology, Estate Management, Accountancy and Business Management, with the drive to provide qualitative technical education for applicants who are aspiring for the National Diploma certificate in any of the courses.

He warned the students against involving themselves in cultism and other bad habits and be good ambassadors of the institution and their respective homes.
