The newly inaugurated Oyo State Anti-corruption Agency has received five petitions from members of the public on issues relating to sleaze and mismanagement of public funds.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Hon. Justice Eni Esan (Rtd) on Wednesday during a media parley held at the Agency’s boardroom in Ibadan.

Esan vowed that the agency would be unbiased, dispassionate and above board in dealing with issues of corruption in the State.

She however called on the citizens of Oyo State to shun corruption and other vices, adding that the Agency will not hesitate to investigate any matter brought before it.

“We have seen the level corruption has taken our society, it calls for urgent need to put a stop to it or put in all means of curbing its escalation, which necessitated the creation of this agency.

“This agency will not be biased against or in favor of any individual or body and we shall be above board in dealing with petitions and information from the general public.”

Justice Esan further explained that the purpose of the agency is to collaborate with the government in fighting against corruption in Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

“These days, people have been calling for Accountability and good governance in the state and as a result, Oyo State Anti Corruption Agency (OYACA) is ready to promote good Governance and to rid the State of corruption, as we are the hub of government’s fight against corruption,” she said.

Hon. Justice Esan advised the public not to hesitate to lodge their complaints, stating that the agency is poised to listen to petitions and take necessary actions to investigate the matters.

She also assured the general public that the agency is not subjected to any authority, while it is working on its websites and regional offices to make it easy for the people of the State to give information and get feedback on its activities.
