In a bid to increase the workers’ efficiency which is part of the agendas of Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State government has conducted a two-day workshop for senior information officers in the State service.

The State Government in collaboration with Red Alert Consult Ltd, organized management training programme for the Directors and their deputies at the Ministry of information, Culture and Tourism, which held between Wednesday and Thursday at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism’s Film Theatre.

While addressing the press after the programme, the commissioner for information, culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Oyesola Oyedele, stated that the two-day workshop was primarily conducted to improve the capacity of the Senior Management staff in the ministry.

Oyedele said the programme was not only attended by the senior staff in the ministry but also featured those in other ministries.

He added that the state government was grateful to the Chief Executive Officer of the Red Alert Consult Ltd, Mr. Babatunde Obalana for presenting the management training programme for free.

“When we were discussing with CEO of Red Alert Consult Ltd, we stated clearly that the ministry has no funds to offer him. He assured that he would do the training at no cost, as it will be his own contribution to the development of the State. We appreciate him for having the interest of staff development, empowerment and task which are very germane and appropriate in the working environment at mind.”

“After the assessment and effects of this programme from the participants, we will now decide the kind of programme that fits junior staff status. We should not forget the fact that state government is doing training frequently through Ministry of Establishment and Office of the Head of Service.

He noted that despite that the current administration has been faced with paucity of fund, Governor Seyi Makinde has delivered many milestone developmental projects as well as trained a larger percentage of the workforce.

Olatunbosun advised the participants to make good use of the training while discharging their duties in order to expand the economy of Oyo State.

In his view, the Chief Executive Officer of the Red Alert Consult who doubled as the trainer, Mr Babatunde Obalana stated that, he did the training voluntarily because of his belief in knowledge sharing.

He emphasized that the state government would have loved to pay but they are being affected by economic shortcomings.

Obalana added that, “the essence of the programme is to further develop the human capacity that we have within the ministry because the human capacity is dependable asset of any government. For you to get best out of staff, they must be trained and retrained.

“I felt that it is important training to share with them, especially at this point when the Governor is trying to take the State to higher level.”

The workshop also featured fashion parade which the participants adorned themselves with beautiful attires.
