Police To Sanction Officer For Indiscriminate Gun Shooting at Ladipo Market

According to the Police Spokesperson, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Wednesday, the man in question, Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, who was serving with the Mobile Police division at Lagos, has been taken to custody for debriefing and appropriate disciplinary actions.

The Nigerian police has revealed that the police officer who was video shooting indiscriminately in the air on Tuesday at Ladipo market has been arrested.

According to the Police Spokesperson, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Wednesday, the man in question, Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, who was serving with the Mobile Police division at Lagos, has been taken to custody for debriefing and appropriate disciplinary actions.

The popular Ladipo Market at Mushin, Lagos is known for the selling of vehicle parts and was recently shut over the attitude of the traders to environmental sanitation, but was opened on Tuesday morning.

Adejobi said the police authority condemn the unprofessional behavior of the officer, adding that any policeman caught exhibiting unlawful acts will be dealt with according to the laid down rules of the police.

“The police officer in this video, Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, serving with the Mobile Police (MOPOL), has been brought in for appropriate disciplinary actions.

“@LagosPoliceNG condemns in its entirety all forms of unprofessional and unethical behaviour on the part of its officers and men; and will definitely bring to book anyone found culpable,” he warned.
