Relief As Soldiers Mount Checkpoint At Iseyin Farm Settlement

The soldiers who have constructed makeshift posts at strategic points along Iseyin-Okeho and Iseyin-Saki roads are there to return confidence to travelers plying the roads after a kidnap incident at the Iseyin settlement farm, where four farmers were abducted and three of them were later released after ransom was paid and the last was killed in a gun duel between the kidnappers and the security men.

Residents of Iseyin community and commuters plying major roads leading to the Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State have started heaving sighs of relief as contingency of military men arrived the community on Thursday afternoon.

The soldiers who have constructed makeshift posts at strategic points along Iseyin-Okeho and Iseyin-Saki roads are there to return confidence to travelers plying the roads after a kidnap incident at the Iseyin settlement farm, where four farmers were abducted and three of them were later released after ransom was paid and the last was killed in a gun duel between the kidnappers and the security men.

Mutiu Aderibigbe, a driver of commercial bus plying Saki and Ibadan appreciated the intervention of the military, saying that the presence of the team along the road will give anyone planning any criminal activity the fear of abandoning such plan.

”This is commendable, apart from the fact that we travelers and residents of the communities along these roads will heave a sigh of relief, those criminal-minded people will think twice before coming to perpetuate such in these areas.”

According to the Ikolaba of Iseyin, Chief Ismahil Tikalososro, the people of Iseyin and investors in the community and in Oke-Ogun as a whole can go about their businesses without the initial fear of kidnappers.

He commended the Oyo State government, military authority, the police and other paramilitary and local security outfits for trying their best in securing the lives of the people of Iseyin and Oke-Ogun in general.

”We appreciate the Oyo State government, the military, DSS, police, Amotekun, our local vigilante group among others for their efforts in maintaining peace in our community, it is our prayer that those that God Almighty repose the soul of those that have died from one kidnap operation or the other in our community.”

Tikalosoro called on the people of Iseyin to call the attention of the security to any suspicious person or activity in and around the community to forestall any crime.
