Oyo 2019: Senator Buhari Joins Guber Race
The Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on Monday declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2019 under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Buhari made his intention known during a courtesy visit on at the APC state executive council members at the party’s State Secretariat, Oke Ado in Ibadan.
Receiving Senator Buhari and his team, the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Chief Akin Oke hinted that the party is ready to ensure level playing field for all its members aspiring for elective positions in 2019.
The Oyo APC Chairman, the party is open for every member and will at all times allow free, fair and credible primary elections for all aspirants saying, “at the party level, we have agreed that no member of the executive or state working committee should campaign or openly support any aspirant”
While maintaining that APC is determined to ensure victory in 2019 as none of the opposing parties in the state have the capacity to match the APC, Chief Oke pointed out that other APC governorship aspirants including Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan and Engineer Yunus Akintude out of over 30 people have visited the party to declare their intention to vie for governorship in 2019.
Speaking, Senator Buhari charged the Chief Akin Oke led Oyo APC executives not to relent in their efforts in positioning the party for victory in the coming election in and across the state.
Senator Buhari while promising to continue to support the party in the state lauded the Oyo APC leadership for holding forth and ensuring the party is intact since the time of struggle for power till date.
