Update: Iseyin Farmers’ Kidnappers Demand Twenty Million Naira Ransom
Information available to our correspondent on Monday afternoon has indicated that the kidnappers that picked four farmers at a poultry farm at the State’s Farm Settlement Center along Iseyin-Ipapo-Saki road at Iseyin has reached out to relatives of their victims, demanding twenty million naira.
The Chronicler Newspaper gathered that attempts to connect the victims after the last call for the demand for ransom have been futile, as there were fears that the mobile phones with which the call was made has been switched off.
The Chairman, Iseyin Farmers Settlement Center, Mr Adepoju Rasheed told our reporter at the farm on Monday that the military-led search party located the location of the kidnappers on Sunday but there were fears of the possibility of collusion from people within the town or the local security men, as the criminals have relocated upward the forest at Kajola local government, towards the border.
Rasheed hinted that the military Commander in charge of the search expedition has asked that mobile phones of all security men in the search be collected, as well as those at the farm, to put a stop to the possibility of informants giving away the operation tactics to the kidnappers.
He however called on Nigerians to pray for the victims to be back at home safely as according to him, they were farm workers that cannot afford to pay such money as ransom.
”They later called yesterday to demand for twenty million naira ransom, where will the families of those people find such amount, what is wrong in working in the farm by young men?
”Help us pray they they be found alive and in good health, these are innocent boys and a girl, they do not deserve this experience.
”We however appreciate the resilient efforts of our security men, especially the soldiers, police, Amotekun, vigilantes and the DSS who have been having sleepless nights combing the forest, God will crown their efforts with success in this operation.”
The Chronicler Newspaper reported on Saturday that four farmhands that include the farm manager and his female friend and other two were kidnapped on Saturday afternoon.
